Health Statistics & Geographic Information Systems The Institute's Center for Health Statistics has acquired a wide range of census based data bases including: Vital Statistics, Notifiable Diseases, Cancer Registry and Hospital Discharge data. Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data have been acquired and are being utilized for local assessment. Current efforts to expand local surveillance include efforts to conduct local Youth Risk Behavioral Surveillance and collaborate with a local nationally recognized private sector effort to assess quality of life indicators. The Center for Health Statistics provides Geography Information System mapping and statistical analysis for the County Health Department and the Department of Pediatrics. The Institute regularly provides health statistics to various programs within the local Health Department and to other health related agencies within the county. To

top The Institute's Center for Program Evaluation provides primary leadership and serves in support roles with local universities and agencies to conduct evaluation research of health programs within the community. The Duval County School Board received a major grant award for a physical education program, with the Institute conducting the evaluation. The Center's staff has the capacity to support many aspects of evaluation such as data collection and instrument development to data analysis and study sampling. To

Program Evaluation Requests:
top The Institute has the ability to conduct both Quantitative and Qualitative research. In fact, a mixed method (use of both types) approach is commonly used by the Institute. The staff has many years of experience in directing and assisting research. top Grant Assistance & Foundation Searches The Institute provides grant assistance and foundation searches. Grant assistance such as developing measurable objectives, profiling a community and selecting control groups are some of the major tasks we can accomplish. The Institute also has access to the Foundation Directory that list available grants by topic of interest. Staff can search the directory and identify potential grants for organizations/ agencies that are looking for external funding. top One of the Institute's newest function is database development. The Institute provides database development services for Access and Excel. Our experienced database developers can create a database from conception or renovate existing databases.
