Diverse Roles for Improved Health Outcomes
As a DCHD nurse, you can play a wide variety of roles linking communities with improved community health. You can counsel and guide patients in their tuberculosis treatment at the Center for Specialized Pulmonary Services. You can investigate cases in Epidemiology, and collect and analyze data to detect the spread of infectious diseases. In the HIV clinic, you can educate patients on medications and treatment, and coordinate referrals for those with particular needs. You can be a care coordinator and assist in the management of care for children in need of referrals to specialized care.

Whether it's home visits, immunizations, safety training/bioterrorism preparations, or child safety training, DCHD nurses go beyond traditional functions every day in order to better the health of individuals and the community.
