H1N1 Swine Flu Preparedness

Volunteer and help your community.

What does it take to volunteer?

Ø     We are looking for both medical and non-medical professionals. The volunteer pool should include health care professionals, with clear and active licenses, and general volunteers to support the administrative functions of an event who will pass a background check…we will verify the information before you can volunteer.

Ø      You must be available to work for a few hours a day for at least one day a week or on a Saturday. The days and hours may vary based on how many sites and for how long we open them.

What are our Expectations?

Ø     Our expectations for Medical professionals are that they will be able to administer vaccinations. Our non-medical volunteers will assist with the administrative functions such as data entry or being a greeter in the Point-of Dispensing sites.

Ø     We expect our volunteers to be professional and respectful to our clients, the public, as we serve them.

What are the Benefits?
Under
Chapter 110.504 Volunteer Benefits

Ø    Volunteers shall be covered by state liability protection in accordance with the definition of a volunteer and the provisions of s. 768.28.

Ø    Volunteers shall be covered by workers' compensation in accordance with chapter 440.

            Other things may include:

Ø      Meals may be furnished without charge to regular service volunteers serving state departments, provided the scheduled assignment extends over an established meal period, and to occasional-service volunteers at the discretion of the department head. No department shall expend or authorize any expenditure in excess of the amount provided for by appropriation in any fiscal year.
